Catalina Casino
Casino is Italian for "Gathering Place." No Gambling Here!
Commissioned by William Wrigley Jr., Catalina Casino opened in 1929, marking the 10-year anniversary of Wrigley's 1919 purchase of Catalina Island. Nearly a century later, this historic icon stands as a reminder of the days when millions made the 26-mile trip across the sea to enjoy a movie, dinner, and dancing during the Casino’s heyday as the hub of Avalon nightlife.
Two Guided Walking Tours
Catalina Casino offers two narrated walking tours—Discover the Casino and Behind the Scenes Casino. Each gives you a unique perspective of this Art Deco masterpiece, from the first theatre built specifically for “talkies” on the lower level, to the world’s largest circular ballroom on the top level, where thousands once danced the night away to the sounds of big band music.
Self Guided Tours
The Casino is now open for self-guided tours, available daily from 10 am to 5 pm. Enjoy the Art Deco Avalon Theatre, see the Marine Bar on the Mezzanine level, explore the Wrigley Ballroom and stroll along the Ocean Promenade, taking in the beautiful Avalon Bay.
Avalon Theatre
Take in first run and classic films in the Avalon Theatre. Films are shown on Friday and Saturday evenings. Visit the Avalon Theatre for a list of current showings.
Avalon's Premier Event Venue
The Casino's magnificent ballroom, which has been fully restored, continues to host major events, including the annual New Year’s Eve Celebration, Catalina Conservancy Ball and Catalina Island JazzTrax Festival.
The ballroom is available year-round for weddings, private celebrations, and corporate events. More information on how to rent the Casino and other Catalina Island venues is available on our Meetings and Events page.
