Catalina Island, Calif. – Santa Catalina Island Company pampers guests and locals at the new Island Spa Catalina, the island’s first-ever resort spa. Under the direction of American Leisure spa operators and reflecting Catalina’s rich history and seaside atmosphere, Island Spa Catalina is a wellness sanctuary that offers a variety of thoughtfully selected treatments and rejuvenating therapies reflecting intrinsic island botanicals. Located inside the historical El Encanto building, the Island Spa Catalina features nine treatment rooms with spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean, an Island Spa Café, Spa Shoppe, salon, ocean view relaxation deck and spa courtyard complete with a uniquely designed soaking pool and luxurious chaise lounges for guests to relax, before and after treatments.
Spa Concept
Preserving the historic architecture of the original El Encanto building and featuring proprietary ingredients and sea based treatments, Island Spa Catalina’s concept pays tribute to the traditions of Catalina while showcasing dramatic ocean views. Spa décor is inspired by Catalina Island’s rich history and decorative elements including original photos, art and famous original Catalina tiles. Island Spa Catalina also incorporates local natural elements indigenous to the region such as yarrow sea salt, as well as exotics like ylang ylang, tea tree and lavender, into the spa experiences and exhibits a series of luxurious amenities throughout.

Spa Treatment Menu
With its nine treatment rooms including skincare and body treatment areas, the Spa includes a selection of island-inspired signature treatments such as the Sea of Life Facial, Catalina Classic Botanical Massage and a variety of body treatments designed to relax, heal and rejuvenate the mind and body. The Spa is open to both guests and Avalon residents. Specialty showers, a dry inhalation sauna and eucalyptus steam room at the Spa are the ideal way to begin or end a day of strenuous Island activities.

Nail Salon
Set in an alcove of the courtyard with lovely views of spa botanicals and glimpses of the ocean, Island Spa Catalina offers a one-of-a-kind nail salon with manicure stations and plush dual pedicure banquet. The nail salon also offers makeup applications and lessons, therapeutic scalp and hair treatments, and hair washes and blowouts. The salon happily accommodates wedding parties and groups of ladies looking to get pampered before a night out.

Spa Shoppe
Featuring a selection of local artisan goods, the Spa Shoppe welcomes guests with a variety of lifestyle items including clothing, gifts and handmade spa-inspired products. From OSEA to Organic Male skincare, Tara Spa Therapy, MIO body care and Dr.’s Remedy all featuring natural sea and plant based products, the Spa Shoppe offers specialty gifts for every taste.

Spa Café
Exclusive to spa guests, the Island Spa Café, Encanto Cafe, offers a variety of fresh and healthy spa fare. Designed for the health conscious guest, menu items include a sprouted quinoa and bok choy salad, smoked wild salmon on sourdough bread, a selection of Dammann Freres herbal teas, fresh pressed juices and an excellent wine and champagne selection.

Spa Courtyard and Vista Deck
Before and after spa treatments, guests may relax in the Spa courtyard or atop the Vista Deck with personalized service and the ultimate opportunity to extend the relaxation benefits of a day in the Spa.
