Seasonal Employment on Catalina Island

Each year we hire approximately 150 seasonal employees. These employees come not only from around the country but from Europe as well. For some, this is their first job for others this is a supplement to their retirement, or a second career, and for still others, they love Catalina and return each summer to help others enjoy its beauty. Background Check is required for all positions.

Appearance

We look for people who are clean, with normal (not extreme) hairstyles, no body piercing except for ears, and no visible tattoos. We start hiring in April, and add staff through June. Although we accept a few employees who have to leave us in August, we look for people who can stay at least through Labor Day.

Transportation To Catalina Island

We do not pay your transportation to the island. There are two boat companies that come to the island: Catalina Flyer from Newport Beach (949) 673-5245 or (800) 830-7744, and Catalina Express from Dana Point, Long Beach and San Pedro (310) 519-1212 or (800) 618-5533. You will need to call for a reservation. Times of departures vary according to boat company, day of the week and time of year. Also the cost is different depending on which company you use. There’s also a helicopter service called IEX from Long Beach and San Pedro.

Shipping Information

US Postal Service, UPS and Fed Ex all deliver to the island. If you have large items that you want to ship, you can contact Catalina Freight Line at (310) 549-4004.

What To Bring

Plan on warm days and cool nights. June can be downright chilly. In addition to your clothes, you’ll want to bring a set of dishes, utensils and pans for your own cooking needs, bed linens, including a pillow, for a single bed, and towels. You will also need I.D. and documents showing eligibility for employment in the United States, examples of these would be a valid driver’s license and social security card or U.S. Passport. You cannot start work without these! Call the Human Resource Department at (310) 510-2000 ext. 1250 for all acceptable forms of ID.
