AVALON, Calif. (June 21, 2016) – The Original Catalina Wine Mixer is back with twice as much “POW,” taking place from Friday, September 23 through Sunday, September 25 at Descanso Beach Club on Santa Catalina Island. Following the huge success of last year’s inaugural entertainment event, the Santa Catalina Island Company (SCICO), The Xceptional Music Company and Island Express Helicopters have extended the pop culture celebration into a weekend-long event celebrating the antics and “Por Ti Volare” magic of the 2008 comedy, “Step Brothers,” starring Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly. Two-day VIP tickets (21+ only) are now on sale for $399, and two-day General Admission passes will be available for $149 on Friday at: http://www.visitcatalinaisland.com/WineMixer.

Descanso Beach Club opens at noon on both Saturday and Sunday with entertainment commencing at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. Taking the stage at on Sunday are the cult sensation, THE DAN BAND, best known for their cameos in films such as “Old School” and “The Hangover” and their original covers of female-performed pop songs. Alongside beachfront musical performances, guests will also enjoy a selection of pours from soon-to-be-revealed participating wineries.
Original Catalina Wine Mixer VIP ticket holders will have access to complimentary wine tastings from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. as well as a VIP Hospitality Suite offering complimentary food stations and a private bar beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. VIP guests will also have a meet and greet opportunity with all participating talent as well as complimentary passes to a screening of “Step Brothers,” taking place inside the historic Casino Movie Theatre on Friday, September 23.
Private cabanas are available to rent on Saturday, 6:30 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. ($300) and Sunday, 12:30 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. ($750). All cabanas can accommodate up to six guests and come with a personal butler and bottle service menu (not included in the price of the cabana).
Traveling to Catalina is easy with Catalina Express offering up to 30 daily departures from Long Beach, San Pedro and Dana Point. For those wishing to return to the mainland after the event, a late-night return from Avalon to Long Beach will be added to the schedule for the day of the event.
