Charlie Chaplin and Paulette Goddard found Avalon to be a wonderful romantic getaway and spent a great deal of time on the island in the Thirties and Forties.

 

The Island Company was founded in 1894 by the Banning Brothers. The company was then purchased by William Wrigley, Jr. in 1919 with hopes of turning Catalina Island into a world-class resort destination. Descendants of the Wrigley family still own the Island Company today and continue to build on and enhance the vision of William Wrigley, Jr. We invite you to learn more about the Santa Catalina Island Company and it's long history as a first class resort company.

Santa Catalina Island Fact Sheet

The Santa Catalina Island Company was established in 1891 when the sons of American entrepreneur, Phineas Banning, bought Catalina Island to develop as a resort. In 1919, after a spate of bad luck, the Banning brothers were forced to sell their island in shares. One of the chief investors to purchase shares from the Bannings was William Wrigley, Jr.

Luxury Rental Homes in Two Harbors

For the first time, guests of Catalina Island Vacation Rentals will be able to experience a luxurious new lodging opportunity in Two Harbors, at the island’s remote West End. Casa Santa Cruz and Casa Santa Rosa, named for two other islands in the Channel Islands chain, offer a dramatically different way to stay at the Isthmus, which is known for camping and boating.

First-Ever Resort Spa on Catalina Island

Opening late summer 2014, Island Spa Catalina will pamper guests and locals with a new wellness sanctuary and a variety of thoughtfully selected treatments and rejuvenating therapies reflecting intrinsic island botanicals.

New Mooring Reservations System

June 27, 2014

Santa Catalina Island Company (SCICo) is pleased to announce a new mooring reservation option. Starting July 10, 2014, the company will launch a mooring management program allowing guests to conveniently reserve moorings for their boats during their Catalina stay outside of Avalon. During SCICo’s involvement in boat shows, special presentations and community outreach, many boaters expressed desire for a reservation system, and SCICo is pleased to provide an easy to use solution for guests in time for the summer season.
