SANTA CATALINA ISLAND COMPANY ANNOUNCES FIRST-EVER RESORT SPA ON CATALINA ISLAND
Catalina Island, Calif. – Beginning in June 2014, Santa Catalina Island Company will pamper its guests at the Island Spa Catalina, the islands first-ever resort spa. Reflecting Catalina’s rich history and seaside atmosphere, Island Spa Catalina will offer a variety of pampering treatments and rejuvenating therapies using island-grown ingredients. Located inside the historical El Encanto building, the Spa will feature 15,000 square feet of indoor space and include a variety of outdoor experiential components including a courtyard, soaking pool and vista deck. The Spa will be comprised of nine treatment rooms, a nail salon, a Spa Shoppe, Spa Café and an outdoor courtyard with luxurious chaise lounges suitable for all seasons.
Preserving the historic architecture of the original El Encanto building and featuring proprietary ingredients and sea based treatments, Island Spa Catalina’s concept pays tribute to the traditions of Catalina while showcasing dramatic ocean views. Spa décor is inspired by Catalina Island’s rich history and decorative elements include original photos, art and famous original Catalina tiles. Island Spa Catalina also incorporates local natural elements indigenous to the region such as yarrow sea salt, as well as exotics like ylang ylang, tea tree and lavender, into the spa experiences and exhibits a series of luxurious amenities throughout.
Spa Treatment Menu
With its nine treatment rooms including skincare and body treatment areas, the Spa will include a selection of island-inspired signature treatments such as the Sea of Life Facial, Catalina Classic Botanical Massage and a variety of body treatments designed to relax, heal and rejuvenate the mind and body. The Spa will be open to both guests and Avalon residents. Specialty showers, a dry inhalation sauna and eucalyptus steam room at the Spa are the ideal way to begin or end a day of strenuous Island activities.
Set in an alcove of the courtyard with lovely views of spa botanicals and glimpses of the ocean, Island Spa Catalina will offer a one-of-a-kind nail salon with manicure stations and plush dual pedicure banquet. The nail salon will also offer makeup applications and lessons, therapeutic scalp and hair treatments, and hair washes and blowouts. The salon happily accommodates wedding parties and groups of ladies looking to get pampered before a night out.
Featuring a selection of local artisan goods, the Spa Shoppe will welcome guests with a variety of lifestyle items including clothing, gifts and handmade spa-inspired products. From OSEA to Organic Male skincare, Tara Spa Therapy, MIO body care and Dr.’s Remedy all featuring natural sea and plant based products, the Spa Shoppe will offer specialty gifts for every taste.
Exclusive to spa guests, the Island Spa Café will offer a variety of fresh and healthy spa fare.
