Santa Catalina Island Company Brings Back Annual Holiday Open House
The Inn on Mt. Ada welcomes the community to Catalina Island Foundation event
AVALON, CATALINA ISLAND – Santa Catalina Island Company will open the Inn on Mt. Ada, the former home of William Wrigley, Jr., to the public on Thursday, December 10, 2015 for a Holiday Open House to benefit the Catalina Island Foundation (CIF), a nonprofit foundation that supports organizations working to improve the quality of life on Santa Catalina Island.
The Catalina Island Foundation will raise funds for the community by offering a limited number of raffle tickets for a chance at a one-night stay in each of the Inn on Mt. Ada’s six guestrooms, as well as raffle tickets for gift baskets donated by local businesses. The event will also serve as a re-introduction of the Inn to the community.
“The Wrigley family and all of the Santa Catalina Island Company are delighted to open the doors of the Inn on Mt. Ada to the community and island visitors,” said Randall L. Herrel, Sr., president and chief executive officer of the Santa Catalina Island Company. “This is the first year that the Santa Catalina Island Company has begun management of the Inn, and we are honored to be able to support the local community and the Catalina Island Foundation with this event.”
Upon arrival, attendees will receive a warm welcome to the Inn and an intimate tour of each of the guestrooms by expert docents. Attendees are then invited to enjoy home baked cookies and wassail, sing carols, visit with friends and rediscover the beauty and ambiance of the Inn.
“The Holiday Open House is an event that is recognized and cherished by the community,” said Mike Rivkin, chairman of the Catalina Island Foundation (CIF). Cliff Hague, one of CIF’s founders, also noted, “Together with the Santa Catalina Island Company, we hope to recreate the wonderful community involvement and holiday spirit that was always so much a part of past Open Houses at the Inn on Mt. Ada.”
All proceeds from the Holiday Open House will go to the Catalina Island Foundation to support organizations such as The Teen Center, Avalon Rotary Interact Leadership Club, the Pony Club, Santa Catalina Island Fund for Higher Education (SCIF), CHOICES, Catalina Kid Ventures, Preschool Learning for Avalon Youth (PLAY), among many others. Since its founding in 2014, the Catalina Island Foundation has raised nearly $100,000 for the local community.
This year’s Holiday Open House will take place on Thursday, December 10, 2015 from 2:00-6:00 p.m. More information will be available soon. If you would like to volunteer to help with the event, please contact Anna Dira at 310.427.2450 or email@example.com.
