POSITION: Houseman

REPORTS TO: Executive Housekeeper

DEPARTMENT: Hotels

FUNCTION:
Responsible for preparation of all rooms prior to cleaning. Assist room attendants. Sort and count dirty linens prior to delivery to laundry. Coordinate with front desk on status of rooms. Coordinate with front desk for placement of rollaways, cribs, and any other item of guest request. Check all equipment in guest rooms to assure everything is in proper working order. Light room maintenance duties such as painting, window cleaning, carpet shampooing. Carries out houseman responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable laws. Position requires organizational skills, ability to work cooperatively with a variety of individuals (both guests and fellow employees) and demonstrate a positive and constructive attitude. Work with a variety of different cleaning agents and understand their use.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Strip dirty linens and trash from check out rooms
2. Clean and maintain public areas, including patios and hallways
3. Sort and count linens for delivery to laundry
4. Sort and count clean linens delivered by laundry
5. Coordinate rooms status with front desk
6. Delivery of guest request items, i.e, rollaways, cribs, etc.
7. Responsible for cleaning of guest room windows
8. Keep linen rooms stocked with clean linens

ORGANIZATION:
Ability to organize and maintain written information, and retrieve information from files.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, guests and the general public. A knowledge of English and Spanish would be helpful.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
