POSITION:  Bellman
REPORTS TO: Front Office Manager
DEPARTMENT: Hotels

FUNCTION:
Responsible for all guest baggage under the hotel’s care. Lobby, grounds, bathrooms and shower room maintenance. Staff the checkrooms of the hotel. Runs errands for the front desk. Responsible for light maintenance duties in guest rooms. Responsible for beach towel procedures and inventories. Gives local area information. Carries out bellman responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable laws.

Position requires organizational skills, ability to work cooperatively with a variety of individuals (both guests and fellow employees) and demonstrate a positive and constructive attitude.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
include the following, other duties may be assigned.

CHECKROOM:
1. Mans checkroom
2. Coordinate baggage transfer from Cabrillo Mole and hotel and vice versa.
3. Custodial duties which include the lobby, public bathrooms and showers, hallways and grounds.
4. Maintains beach towel inventories and distribution to hotel guests.
5. Provides local area information to our in-house guests and the general public.
6. Does not leave the checkroom unattended during shift.
7. Responsible for guest baggage checked into checkroom.
8. Runs errands for front desk clerks.
9. Sorts and delivers baggage for group check ins, and also pulls bags from group rooms for delivery to Cabrillo Mole at check out.

ORGANIZATION:
Ability to organize and maintain files, and retrieve information from files.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, guests and the general public. A knowledge of Spanish would be helpful.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
N/A

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
