Santa Catalina Island Company operates the following venues and properties: Avalon Grille, Pavilion Hotel, Hotel Atwater, Catalina Expeditions, Catalina Visitors Country Club, Catalina Island Golf Course, Descanso Beach Club, Casino Ballroom and all operations located at the resort town of Two Harbors.


The Group Sales Manager is responsible for maximizing group revenue and profitability through the sale of guest rooms, catering and tours and for directing, managing and coordinating all group sales activities for Santa Catalina Island Company. Reporting to the Director of Sales, this position will be responsible for achieving and exceeding goals in all group market segments, including SMERF, Tour & Travel and Corporate. He or she will assist with the development and implementation of resort sales and marketing strategies as we undergo a $200 million renovation over the next four years. Through effective relationship building and account management they will deliver the highest levels of guest service and will ensure ongoing client satisfaction and retention.


  • Presents a professional demeanor at all times as an executive representative of SCICO.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with key clients and establishes a client base of meeting planners, organizations, associations, and corporate businesses through continues direct sales efforts.
  • Grows existing accounts and generates new business in assigned geographic or vertical region to ensure that group revenues meet or exceed budget.
  • Negotiates guest room rates, meeting room rental, function space, and resort services within approved booking guidelines and continuously confirms all client requirements in writing. Responds promptly to guest requests and inquiries and follows up to ensure utmost guest satisfaction.
  • Upon closing of contracts, coordinates with Conference Services, Food & Beverage and other operational departments to ensure appropriate service delivery and that all client requirements are met.
  • Monitors goal production and controls expenditures to meet budgeted departmental financial guidelines.
  • Coordinates with other sales team members in evaluating, soliciting, selling and in confirming profitable business.
  • Prepares monthly production summaries and activity reports and communicates overall market trends to VP of Sales, as needed.
  • Represents the company at conventions, events and trade shows as warranted by assigned region.
  • Conduct tours of properties and venues to meeting planners and other potential customers while informing of all hotel services available; entertain customers on property, during site inspections.


  • Presents a professional demeanor at all times as an executive representative of SCICO.
  • Has proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office. Ability to perform a power point sales presentation.
  • Ability to travel frequently to designated territories , primarily in Southern California.
  • Possesses working knowledge of OPERA, Sales & Catering a plus, and/or other sales-related software programs.
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English language with strong contract negotiation skills and proven track record for effectively closing group business.

Bachelor's degree with an emphasis on Sales and Marketing, plus a minimum of 3-4 years of progressive hospitality industry experience both in group sales and catering, preferably in the luxury resort market.
