Chief Steward

Culinary Division

 
Responsibilities:
  • Reports to Executive Chef
  • Lead, teach, coach and inspire the team 
  • Ordering all china, glassware, silverware and equipment for all kitchens
  • Conduct semi-annual and periodic inventories to ensure par stocks and resource availability are maintained within all Food and Beverage outlets and kitchens and determine breakage
  • Conduct daily inspections of all Food and Beverage areas and kitchens on a daily basis to ensure cleanliness and compliance with local health/sanitation codes
  • Ensure the correct ordering and usage of all chemicals within the department and outlets.
  • Play an active role in the recruitment, orientation, training and scheduling of all colleagues and supervisors
  • Monitor and strive to exceed budgetary guidelines for operating supplies and labor
  • Provide support and direction to the team of leaders within Stewarding with respect to performance management and continuous learning
  • Foster an environment of cooperation within the department and between other departments
  • Encourage participation and input from all colleagues while promoting professional work habits 
  • Have a proactive eye for detail and cleanliness
  • Review BEOs to forecast equipment and supply requirements
  • Compliance with all safety regulations of assigned tasks and ensure a clean, safe working environment
  • Other reasonable duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • 2 years experience as Assistant Chief Steward or Manager within hotel Food & beverage
  • Previous experience in Food & Beverage leadership positions, particularly Stewarding
  • High School Diploma or Degree in Hospitality Management a definite asset
  • Excellent communication (written & verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • Must be computer strong with knowledge of Excel, Word, electronic mail
  • Results oriented, positive, service driven with a sense of urgency and ability to prioritize
  • Self-motivated, highly organized with an eye for detail
  • Must be committed to safety and good environmental practices in the work place
  • A valid driver’s license, with a comfort level driving a company vehicle of up to 1-ton

Physical Demands:
  • Sitting 0-3hrs/day, walking 6-8hrs/day, standing 6-8hrs/day
