Black Jack Campground - Catalina Island Camping
The Black Jack Campground is nestled among pine and eucalyptus trees near Mt. Orizaba. At 2,097-feet, it’s Santa Catalina Island’s highest peak. At 1,600 feet above sea level, the facility provides eleven campsites with sweeping views of rolling terrain to the ocean. Situated several miles from both Avalon and Two Harbors, Black Jack Campground offers tranquility in the island’s interior.

Directions to Campground
The Black Jack Campground trailhead is accessible by either hiking, taking the Airport Shuttle from Avalon, or by Safari Bus. The trailhead for the campground is 9 miles from Avalon and 11.8 miles from Two Harbors. Once at the trailhead, it is a 1.5-mile moderate hike into the campground.

Selected camping equipment is available for rent from Two Harbors Visitor Services.
Campers must check-in at either Hotel Atwater (or the Pavilion Hotel mid-week during the winter) in Avalon or Two Harbors Visitor Services in Two Harbors. If you pre-purchased a locker for firewood, you will be issued a lockbox key at check-in. Locker keys are $15 and include 1 bundle of firewood. There is a 10-day maximum stay at all campgrounds. ***Per Los Angeles County Fire, no fires or charcoal are allowed at Blackjack campground. Propane stoves are fine for now. We will resume when the drought is over.
