Real Island Wedding at the Casino
Many say the most notable landmark on Catalina Island is the iconic beautiful Casino building. Perched along the harbor, the Art Deco circular icon has been the focal point of Santa Catalina Island entertainment and culture since it opened its doors over eighty years ago. During the day, guests can partake in behind-the-scenes tours of the Casino and every night, the movie theater in the Casino’s lower level offers first-run movies. If you don’t have tickets for the night showing, you can admire the Casino’s stunning lights as you enjoy Avalon’s nightlife scene! Every evening at sundown, the bright white lights shine down on the water and light up the harbor.
Locals and visitors alike enjoy the Casino as it plays host to Catalina’s major indoor events, including the annual New Year’s Eve celebration and Catalina Island Jazz Festival. For three generations, the style and romance of the Catalina Casino has made it the venue of choice for entertainers, live theater productions and movies. In Spring, the Casino hosted a special wedding. On May 10th, 2014, Sebastian Jobin and Byron Reyes from San Diego said their “I Dos” under the shining lights of the Catalina Casino, but for their special day, the Casino Lights shined in rainbow colors. It was quite a beautiful sight and will go down in history as the first time the lights were changed to rainbow colors. Congrats to Sebastian and Byron on their beautiful wedding and a big thanks to them for lighting up the harbor in color! Check out some pictures of the rainbow Casino below.
